Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant /Lunch time leader – Romanian speaking (EAL)

Required from 30.11.20 (or as soon after this date) – Term time only (temporary contract based on the completion of a successful probationary year with the potential of being permanent).
NB: Parent Ambassador Role is a fixed term contract to July 2022 due to grant funding for this aspect of the post.

Hours: Mon – Fri 8.40 – 1.05 p.m. Term time only – 22 hours 05 mins /week

Salary:

TA role Scale G01 point 4: £7,701.85 (8.40 – 11.50 a.m.) 15.83 hours/mins (0.376 FTE)
Lunch time leader role Scale GO1 point 4: £ 3036.97 (11.50 – 1.05 p.m.) 6.25 hours/mins (0.1485 FTE)
Additional Parent Ambassador role GO1 point 4 : £4859.16 (10 hours per week)term time only : 1.30 – 3.30 p.m. (0.2376)

Total salary covering all three posts: £15,597.92 per annum term time only

Kenmore Park Infant & Nursery School is an inspirational school focusing on the development of the whole child.


We are currently recruiting for a highly skilled TA & Lunch time leader to support in and lead interventions, offer classroom support to EAL & SEN learners some with complex needs then support children during lunch time. We require an experienced individual with the ability to speak a second language other than being fluent in English.
The following community languages is essential – Romanian. The applicant must also possess a relevant NVQ Level 3 which is an essential requirement, graduate level qualifications would be desirable. Their main role will be to work as part of a team, provide one-to-one and small group support both in and out of the classroom and be able to demonstrate impact on pupil progress. This is in addition to promoting inclusion and positive behaviour in class and during lunch time.
Duties will include:
 Working with the Inclusion Leader to plan and deliver intervention and support to targeted pupils.
 Keeping records up to date and ensuring that other members of staff and
parents/carers where applicable are informed of pupil progress.
 Ensuring that the children in the class are safe at all times.
 Promoting inclusion and encouraging the pupil to develop social, emotional and language skills at their own pace.
 Support pupils eating in the canteen, managing their own needs and making healthy food choices.
 Support pupils’ personal and social development during the lunch time.
 Following all school policies and procedures.

Parent Ambassador duties include:
 Supporting the induction of new joiners from the Romanian community and their parent/carers
 Translating on behalf of parents/pupils
 Supporting communication between parents and teachers
 Facilitating parent workshops and meetings
 Explaining/clarifying school expectations to parents
 Helping parents to support their children with their learning at home in
partnership with the school.

Applicants must have a minimum of 6 months’ recent work experience as a Teaching Assistant within a Primary School setting. Excellent verbal and written literacy skills.

Previous experience and knowledge of the EYFS/KS 1 curriculum and phonics is absolutely essential and candidates will be expected to show a high level of understanding and practice. Examples of this must be provided at interview.
