Admissions
Kenmore Park Infant & Nursery School is a Harrow Community School maintained by the local Authority and as such Harrow Council sets the admission rules for this school.
The regulations for entry to Community Schools are published each year by Harrow Council. These regulations can be obtained from the Education Department of the Council, the school or online.
The following admission criteria apply to the school:
In Harrow, children enter nursery classes in the academic year they become four between 1st September and 31st August and enter Reception classes in the academic year they become five between 1st September and 31st August.
Application forms can be accessed online from the Education tab of Harrow Council or, if the child is of pre-school age (Nursery age) directly from the school. All applications must be completed by the date stipulated on the form. Harrow Council, or the school in the case of Nursery admissions, notifies parents about the place offered no later than the end of March or as stimulated on the website. Parents will receive a letter/email confirming their child’s place in a primary school for reception in the April before the child starts school. If the number of people applying for a particular school is less than the number of places available, then everyone naming that school as their first preference will normally be offered a place.
Parents have a right to express a preference for the school they would like their child to attend, they should do so on the application form. Expressing a preference does not, in itself, guarantee a place at this school.
If there are more applications than places, offers of places in full time school are made to those whose application was received by the closing date in the following priority order:
- Children looked after by the local authority
- Medical reasons relevant to pupils
- Medical reasons relevant to parents
- Sibling link (i.e. older brothers/sisters living at the same address)
- Distance (including Nursery from September 2017)
The admission of pupils with a Statement of SEN is dealt with by Harrow Council by a separate procedure.
If more applications are received than there are places in Nursery, places will be given to children in the following order
a) Four years olds, in date of birth order, referred by Learning Support Services
b) Other four years olds, in date of birth order
c) Three year olds, in date of birth order referred by Learning Support Services
d) Other three year olds, in date of birth order
If there are more children with the same date of birth than there are place in the nursery, then places are offered in the following order:
- Children whose first language is not English
- Children whose parents are in receipt of Income Support/ Income Based Job Seekers Allowance.
Children who live outside the borough may be offered a place when all demand from Harrow residents has been satisfied.
Due to high demand for nursery places for 2024-2025 we are unable to offer 30 hours.
Late Applications
Applications received after the closing date (which is published in the local newspapers) will be dealt with after those received by the closing date have been allocated school places. Places will be offered at school(s) where there are vacancies.
Travel assistance
Help with travelling expenses may be available to pupils under the age of 8 where the only school the Authority can offer is more than 2 miles from the home address, measured by the shortest, safe walking route. If the Authority has to make an offer for a school more than 2 miles from home, assistance will only be given when parent have named a school linked to their address under the priority roads system on the application form. No assistance is given if a priority school is not named.
If your child has special educational needs, please let the Headteacher know at the time you hand in your completed application form.
Certain particulars declared on your application form may be held on computer and are therefore registered under the Data Protection Act 1984.
Children attending a nursery which is attached to the Infant School do not have an automatic right of entry to that school. Their applications are dealt with in the same way as applications for other children who are not in the nursery.
